OpenAI losing their case is how we ensure that the only people who can legally be in charge of an LLM are massive corporations with enough money to license sufficient source material for training, so I’m forced to begrudgingly take their side here

Depending on how important these large language models end up being to society, I’d rather everyone be able to freely use copyrighted works to train them, rather than reserve their use solely for the corporations rich enough to pay for the licensing or lucky enough to already have the rights to a trove of source material
OpenAI losing this battle is how we ensure that the only people that can legally train these things are the Microsofts, Googles, and the Adobes of the world so, bizarrely, as much as I think OpenAI has turned into greedy corpo scum, I feel compelled to side with them here

Netplay isn’t exactly ideal, as from what I understand it generally requires the syncing of all players emulated console hardware simultaneously (basically, every emulator tricks the game into thinking they’re all being played on one single console), which is a lot harder to reliably achieve than having native netcode to handle multiplayer

USB C seems like a good idea but in reality all it really did was take my 5 different, not interchangeable, but visually distinct, cables, and make them all look identical and require labeling

They lost billions of dollars due to production being way higher than demand during 2023, it’s only collusion in the sense that they all want to actually make some money on the NAND they manufacture.
They drastically increased production after covid, and then with inflation and the economy slowing down, demand crashed, meaning they had a fuckton of NAND and nobody to sell it to. They needed to get rid of it so they sold it all at a steep discount below the break even mark, losing billions of dollars in the process (I don’t think any NAND manufacturer had a profitable 2023?). Now, they’re cutting back production to profitable levels that actually meet demand, so prices will increase and return to normal.
To put into perspective just how unimportant Twitter is in the grand scheme of things, Mr Beast’s most popular YouTube video has 40 million more views than Twitter has total monthly active users (500m or so), and 100 million views is frankly a pretty underperforming video for him
