As a helpdesk guy, this type of issue happens with microsoft office just as often. People tend to memorise where the thing they use everyday is, and any update that changes where it is or how it functions “breaks” their flow of doing their task. We as technical people tend to simply have the skills to use a search engine to find out where it moved/how to solve our problem, but they dont.
While I havent been using libreoffice that long or as intensively as a government enployee would so I cant comment on if its the best OSS office suit for this situation, Im just happy they are starting the switch away from microsoft and CSS and finally waking up.
I was recently made aware of the concept of “rubber ducking”. Maybe thats something you were doing without realising
Lord cat thanks you for your offering and expects more next week
Thanks, I now get it! 😊
Could someone explain what happened to me like im 5 please?
This seems like it could be useful info if it takes off
What is the process/commands you did to install the fonts?
I never even got to see the interface haha
Yea i wonder why that is. It seems to be a standard
Basically when I was registering it had some wording like “start your free trial now” but once I got into the dashboard there was a message that cleared things up. So I have a free trial of what I assume is a higher tier of their service, which upon running out will revert me back to the Always Free tier.
Hetzner or linode closed your account?
Yup, ended up going with oracle. Free is good for me, and im totally new to this so it doesnt really make a difference to me if theres a minor interface difference between 2 providers.
Thanks
I just signed up to oracles free cloud service after watching a video where it was said it was always free, but the wording on oracle’s site made it seem like its a trial. Are there two free options?
Netcup seems really interesting, thanks :)
Can someone fill me in?
I use vimium browser extension as I noticed a large chunk of my mouse usage was on the browser.
How do they get the numbering system? Is it automatic somehow?
I use chezmoi for mine. I haven’t had to restore after a nuke yet (hopefully not anytime) but its really simple IMO. Its basically a git wrapper, so there you have your version control. You create a dotfiles repo in your GitHub, initialise your home as a local repo and point it there using chezmoi, and then its as simple as typing “chezmoi add myfile” to start tracking the file in the repo. Then I simply do “chezmoi cd” followoed by the standard git commands to commit and push changes to remote.
Check it out, I’m happy working with it across my desktop and laptop (working on the same config files across both pcs).
Very interesting doc! Its sad how this is the state of things, but something must be done. I hope with the news weve been receiving from Germany recently that this will change long term, and not just for the current government. Hopefully it will snowball and have a ripple effect on other EU countries.
