Texmaker is my go-to offline LaTeX editor. In addition, use JabRef for bibliography management and you’ll live happily ever after.

I’ve just switched this week from SwiftKey, which was the best keyboard I have ever used. Made the switch just to abandon a piece of proprietary software, but oh boy… HeliBoard has way exceeded my expectations!

This post is unfortunately quite misleading : OpenCollective is not shutting down! The news is just that the Open Collective Foundation, a fiscal host on the Open Collective Platform, is going to be dissolved and that collectives using this fiscal host will have to transfer their funds to another fiscal host.

This will allow you to browse & contribute to projects hosted on other instances without having an account there. Imagine using the GitHub search to find a project on Gitlab, then opening an issue there without ever even leaving GitHub. The protocol is called ForgeFed.

Big +1 for Forgejo, also they are actively working on implementing Federation, i.e. in the future Forgejo servers will be able to exchange information as a federated network, just like good old Lemmy 😊 If you want to try the toolchain (Forgejo+Woodpecker CI), it’s what Codeberg.org (run by the German nonprofit organization of the same name) offers freely.
