Glad they mentioned the mode lines. Debian used to give a very scary warning about mode lines destroying your monitor that no other distro even thought to tell you about. Auto configuration of the X server was truly a technological marvel.
The main thing I have against snap is that they force it on people (second is the single store). This seems like a perfect use case, especially for snaps strengths vs alternatives, like the kernel snap, to shine.
We’ll see how it plays out, but I would much prefer a more modular base to the monolithic images used by Fedora Silverblue. I don’t like that it puts so much of the control and decision making into the upstream.
Make sure you have a good backup and be careful in the Debian partitioner. Unless they have changed something recently, rather than unlocking and using the current encrypted drive like most other distros, it will ask you for your key and then re-encrypt the drive (clearing data). It does this prior to confirming any partition changes. Ubuntu has done the same in my experience.
Every time I have tried to keep data I had to do some manual stuff. Fedora, SUSE, most others are happy to unlock it.
SUSE has sort of already been making that claim for some time with SUSE Liberty Linux. Supporting a clone isn’t a big stretch. I don’t think they plan on selling it though, they had already said it would be an independent project.

Linux can do it to Windows machines too. If it’s not encrypted, USB drive is all it takes.
If it’s not encrypted, a live usb can read all the data on any machine anyway.
My only real gripe is their default sudoers config.
I don’t find this the case at all. I barely change the wallpaper, I’m not spending time removing a bunch of stuff I don’t use it just sits there unused. I did my time with Arch and Gentoo (before Arch existed) for years, but I would rather someone else do the work and I will use it as long as it has sane defaults, for my actual work that doesn’t care.
Very cool. In the past they had mentioned LMDE should be about a month behind the 21.2 update. Hoping that estimate still isn’t too far off.

It is talking about the RNG built into the fTPM.
It is a two-part course, RH124 is only part one. There is no certificate for the first half.
Basic scripting is part of the second course.

FYI on CUPS, Apple hired the dev and bought the code in 2007. He left Apple in 2019 and actually forked CUPS. My system it is running OpenPrinting CUPS and not the Apple one. It is still nice that they share its code it just got a little more complicated in the past few years.
