I tried FreeBSD many years ago (back when I was on dialup and bought a book with the FreeBSD install CD included…).

At the time it was interesting to tinker with, and I did use it as a dual-boot on my Win95 computer, but I moved on to Linux when Knoppix came along.

At the time linux seemed more end user friendly.

Maybe I should spin up an install just for nostalgia sake, and to see where it’s at these days.

Ford stopped making the types of vehicles I want to own several years ago.

Until my current vehicle, every previous vehicle (over a period of 43 years) I’ve owned was a small, low options, affordable, fuel efficient 4 cylinder Ford.

Since they stopped making anything like that to focus on F150s and bigger, I now own a Corolla.

At which point the board fires them, they add another golden parachute to their collection, and they get hired to be CEO at another company for a few years until the cycle repeats.

This phenomenon is not limited to tech company leaders.

It’s a common problem with all large corporations leadership, and gets increasingly worse the larger that corporation becomes.

Regardless, maybe the reality that a C-suite executive is spending a quarter century in jail might mean there’s a chance it’ll prevent others from trying something similarly corrupt?

I also avoid the types of people who would intentionally do something that idiotic.

Musk wanting it is more than enough reason for me to want to avoid it like the plague.

Not that I would want any sort of brain implant anyway, but Musk being involved make it even less desirable than it already was.

With each company that gets away with doing this crap, the more companies will add these artificial locks to the products that they sell.

If there isn’t legal protections for consumers, it won’t be long before there are no consumer friendly options available to buy.
