  • The ubiquity of AI fakes will necessitate a cultural shift. Honestly, the world is going to be a nightmare of misinformation soon and nudes may very well be the least of our worries.

What other options do we have? An ironclad verification system for any fabricated content? Wildly harsh penalties for all caught creating it? The ship has sailed - we won’t be able to prevent it from happening.

I’d argue that overexposure will make people quickly become accustomed/nonplussed at information we don’t believe to be true and verify with the source. Look at how we treat other fabricated content - if I showed you a screencap of the Pope saying “Fuck” you’d want to verify with a source directly.

  • Hmm, not sure I’m going to be able to do it. I don’t have an SD card reader on my computer anymore… I do have an old ebook that could read it, but it might be a hassle getting everything shuffled around. Plus I need to figure out Python. Might have time for it tomorrow.
EDIT: This is a monumental hassle… my laptop can’t properly run the script it seems, CMD just auto-closes after trying to initialize the SD card, so I’m seeing if I can compress, upload to google drive, run it on my main computer, send back, then overwrite the SD card
EDIT2: It looks like I did the injection correctly, but the 2DS is stuck on a loading screen in the Extra Data Management page; the tutorial says “Follow the directions shown on the bottom screen.” :/

  • If you want an incredibly easy setup, the old Chromecast and the program Airparrot have been working flawlessly for me.

I know you say you don’t want mainstream, which I take to mean you don’t want ads, smart home listening devices, etc. The black chromecast (without the remote) is exacly what you want. You can mirror anything from a PC or phone over your wifi. The slight delay makes it unsuitable for gaming, but you don’t need that anyway.

Also super cheap. $20 for the chromecast and $18 for Airparrot (which you may not even need, the chrome browser has desktop mirroring, but I had some issues with it).
