Well his own speech is absolutely free. I’m pretty sure that’s what he meant.
Like I get it, it’s scary and I don’t want them to have my data, but my picture is being taken ALL the time basically everywhere I go. Is putting my foot down for this specific type really making a difference?
I’m gonna fall through the ceiling :(
Even beyond renting, installing a wifi camera is SO much cheaper than running Ethernet all over your house. And if you need it run through an external wall? Even more money.
Call it what you want, but this requirement prevents me from buying their products too. I use no Meta services. Don’t wanna start.
This is what they mean by test driven development.
“Yeah, I know it’s shitty, but it pays the bills 🤷🏻♂️”
People definitely do. CTR (click through rate) is generally pretty low, even before the majority of Americans were using ad blocks. But it’s not 0
The container of lotion just spilled a little. Let’s just keep walking sweetie.
You’re right. They care about our privacy and would never do anything to sully that trust. Certainly not through a partnership with an electronics manufacturer that pays them to do it…
They basically did the same thing several decades ago with Kindles and whispernet. It’s not really that crazy.
Patreon for the ones you really like, and substituting watching my own content on Plex is how I’m weening myself off YouTube.
I can get basically anything I want at cheaper prices than locally available by the next day. I can get an increasing amount of things delivered to me same day as well which is pretty nice. The return policy is also a big part of it. There’s basically no fuss or questions asked for anything you want a refund on. You don’t even have to put it in a box, you can just drop it off at the UPS store.
They’re evil, but it’s pretty great from a user perspective.
How about makeup?
It’s super frustrating that even paying for the NFLs super expensive service isn’t enough to watch your team’s games. It’s almost like they want people to pirate.
I switched to using startpage.com recently based on a comment I read on Lemmy and I’ve been generally pretty pleased with the results. Just one more google service I can stop relying on.
I’m not sure the YouTube heads really thought this through. I’m doing the exact same thing. I got a Plex setup and I’ve been watching more and more content on that instead of YouTube. I honestly don’t even miss it. When I eventually go back and try to watch something on a non-ad block device (Apple TV), it further underscores how shitty the service is getting. Longer and longer ads and it seems like they are slowly getting louder than the content.
This headline was the subtle push I needed to donate to Videolan. What an amazing project, we’re lucky to have it.
