Millenials are actually somewhat the exception because we actually needed to use computers. Generally speaking it got worse because every fucking thing is abstracted away from consumers.

They switched because their Androids were slow, buggy and had issues.
Yeah. If they would have spent the same amount of money on a high-end Android phone, those issues would have gone away. People are always comparing cheap low and mid-level shits to iPhones. Which is not very fair. Try an S23 Ultra or a Pixel 8 Pro and tell me it’s slower than an iPhone.
You usually know a company is slowly going to shit when they start to be serious and stop doing fun in their products and ads. Then you know lawyers and shareholders and people who think you can only do business with a straight face started to take over the company. Which is just sad.
Fortunately Sync just redirects to a link on my home instance. I know I saw a GH issue on what you mentioned but I haven’t checked it in a couple of months.
Edit: found it. Still in discussion phase. https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2987
Platforms can now insert ads directly into the manifest file into totally random timestamps. The file chunks’ names follow the same pattern as the original video. You cannot filter or prepare for it. Probably that will be the future. (AWS MediaConvert can do this for example.)
And they only create the manifest file upon starting the stream so you can inject personalized ads too.

Interesting! Alcohol doesn’t have a barcode there?
Here it does. But the self checkout lamp will go to red instantly and a clerk has to come to approve your age.
That was my pet peeve too. I installed it some years ago. Months went by, I’ve used it. Then I saw a new version came out. Okay, time to upgrade! Oh, dump the DB, delete everything, install the upgrade and load the DB back? (Or some similar shit.) And do it every time when there is an upgrade? Okay, uninstall it is.
“With our premium subscription for just $9.99/month you’ll get additional 5 minutes before you’ll get evaporated.”
And there are many other examples too.
A lot of car manufacturers have brands for the upper class. Like Mercedes -> Maybach, Toyota -> Lexus, Seat -> Cupra. And tyre manufacturers have lower-end brands, like Michelin -> Kleber. Or, even better: a lot of store budget brands for milk, cheese, sausages etc. are manufactured by a big name brand, it’s right on the packaging with the little letters at the bottom. (Manufactured by: XYZ Big Name Brand Ltd.)
I think you might not understand what they are joking about. They say there isn’t a second season because they don’t consider the one we have to be a “valid” season, because they think it was bad.
Oh, and I just thought they are talking about everyday chores, like doing the laundry, vacuuming, going to the grocery store or pharmacy, cut the grass or the tree, stuff like that. Which don’t require any certification.
Or the most secure one: hunter2
In my opinion, ALL nessaging apps should be compatible with each other. It should be like email, just different clients on the same protocol. I know it won’t happen anytime soon (if ever in my life), but I’d like that. And we should start somewhere. Maybe here.
It’s mathematically impossible to detect them reliably. But I know you will know it better.

Figma sounds a LOT like “fityma” in my language, which means foreskin.
