Yeah openwrt and ddrwrt are just perfection. I recently switched out my isp eero router for a gl.inet flint 2. Adgaurdhome and setting up services have been a dream! And i could actaully see what my devices where sending packets.
MY SAMSUNG TV WAS PINGING TIKTOK WTF. blocked everything on my smart tv minus netflix and amazon. Because samsung tv uses AWS for channels
There right you and i should just buy a new one
Of a diffrent brand
Oh go figure, my bad :P

“Im sorry dave, i cannot open the door”
huh thanks for the insight, there is alot of moving parts to ublue XD
Thanks for your input, but i cannot remember the exact error. But it would say it cannot install steam because of layering.
See we had auroa layered on bazzite, and for some reaaon steam wouldnt install because it got added then removed by layers.
We had the same problem with firefox, another friend needed non-flatpak firefox for a cac card reader and there were drivers available but didnt work with flatpak. And when we tried to install firefox via rpm os-tree it just failed in the same way
I gotta agree, ublue is an amazing technology and recently got my friend to switch from windows 11 to aurora for school work. Hes is very happy with it, and its pretty bullet proof. However the following month he wanted linux on his ryzen 9, 6900xt gaming desktop.
We started with aurora, which had problems with getting steam to work, tried flatpak couldnt get the 2nd ssd to have permisions to use as a steam library. Tried bazzite container, sometimes wouldnt launch. Tried intalling it through rpm ostree. And after my friend said he wanted to get virtual machines and stuff. I was tapped out, we tried bazzite. But the immutability is the main selling point of being imencly hard to break. But when it got in your way it was sisyhian. We eventually got fedora workstation 40 and hes been really happy with it!
The only thing he has had problems with is running an old star trek game through lutris, it has a weird aspect ration and thr cursor is offset. We still havent been able to fix it.
So basically ublue is if its there already its super easy to install and if its not it is emencly hard.
I dont know if this would be applicable for your use case.
But in gentoo one of the recommended ways to backup your system is rsync. Rsync is single threaded, but keeps all softlinks and hardlinks aswell as accepting an exclude list for directorys you want rsync to ignore. I have recovered from some pretty big dumb dumb moments and have used rsync to build packages on my threadripper and syncing them to lower power devices like my laptop and raspi. And they work pretty well!
If you do decide to go with rsync you can use “rsync -aP (from directory) (to directory)” the “a” stands for archive this keeps all permissons, softlinks and hardlinks. The P stands for a progress bar, so you can see how its going. Another benefit of rsync is you can start copying and stop and start and it will only SYNC over what isnt new or modified. After the files are synced over you need to edit your fstab (its af file where you computer mounts your disks) and grub-mk-config. If not re-install grub
Hope this helps
Random memory just appeared. When i was in highschool, i used to sit with a group of people one of which. Begain a conversation talking about invader zim, everybody kinda pitched into the conversation with quibs and factoids about the animated series. Execept of me, as invader zim was only on your local soul sucking, nipple rubbing cable company (south park reference insues). The girl asked what i thought about the show? I simply explained i never had or cared for cable. To which basically apalled her, “how do you not have cable”, “what do you watch!” I replied antenna. Then for the next 30minutes of lunch there was a hole song and dance about how ive never watched (insert cable tv show). Im glad i didnt grow up with cable, the three stooges were fun to watch, and the fun of me and my dad watching is forever with me. The whole “flix cult” sounds similar to my cable tv experience.
WHAT YOU DONT HAVE
DISNEY PLUS (they can kill you now)
HULU (they have your favorite show! Only season 3 though cause fuck you!)
Netflix (has netflix originals which are very hit or miss)
I chatted with my uncle recently, and he told me about a movie from 2006. I asked where to watch it, he said you can watch it free on YouTube. Stop by my parents house, we decide to watch movie. It was 1 hour and 30 minutes, Runtime. There was 3 minute ads every 10 minutes. The movie was good, but heavily dampered by ADS. To the point you would start to get invested and zone into the movie. Then BAM ADS, the only other option was to buy the movie for $4 on prime or pay for a hulu subscription.
I know subscriptions are stupid and i agree, but its just so infuriating! Pay $7.89 for streaming service which may or may not have the thing you want to watch. For it to most likely to be on streaming service B. Or you go buy the DVD assuming you can. Which now you own a movie that may be CRAP.
You just cant ethically win :/
What fork is it?
Yeah same :/ I miss my jams
Innertune is pretty good aswell
so ive deep dived into as much information as i can find. the TLDR is the main dev LongPanda supposedly went on a vacation to china (most likely his home country?) to which there is conflicting information on his return. one path is he make a lemmy account 9hours ago and made a message that doesn’t describe the blob and sound like a gpt response. to which his "irl friend made an account 3 hours ago to comment that he hasnt heard from LongPanda in months. both were removed from lemmy.ml because of suspected impersonation. the other side of the coin is the LongPanda is still gone and hasn’t addressed the blobs. after looking thought the documentation, you can build from source. in the instructions it says "5. Binaries
There some binaries in Ventoy install package. These files are downloaded from other open source project’s website, such as busybox."
i am not a programer but in the source build it lists the blobs and were there from supposedly from other FOSS projects with sha256’s. so theoretically you should be able to verify the blobs, with the sha256.
