The scary part is they’re actually getting damned good at it. IT support at my company is almost solely run out of India. If I put a ticket in and set it to high priority they’ll have it fixed in under an hour. A lot of times it’s 5 minutes. They don’t hide their true names (which I respect) and communication is fantastic. They need to reach out to me a Teams chat is initiated. If I’m not available they try calling. Not sure who they’re paying but they’re good.
American support is slower and less engaged overall. We’re definitely getting out paced.
Absolutely nailed it.
The article is straight up BS. You can still run unsigned apps. The approval is just in a different place now.
And honestly it’s better than Twitter ever was, for the users at least.
Not when you need real time chats, no.
Not when you’re expected to use it as a texting/messenger device for work. I have so many threads and DMs through it that I truly need to make it more organized. I’m not alone.
I think when I said stuff you weren’t thinking of threads and chats but that’s what I meant. Apologies.
I’m not the only one that doesn’t like Slack! Teams isn’t great but I do prefer it. Sadly.
It’s being used because they’re already paying for MS Enterprise.
I would give almost anything to just be able to rename a Sharepoint folder as an alias for myself. I have so many Documents - x folders that all look the same but are vastly different. Arg!!
But only 15. Yeah, I hit that limit regularly. I just want to put things in folders. That would be a major improvement.
I must be the only one who prefers Teams over Slack. I just don’t like its design. Nothing makes sense to me in how it operates. But then again, Trams runs fine for me. No slow downs or deleting things that others have mentioned.
There are places on the US that have a similar thing going on. I can get my fiber from 2 ISPs, same line. I can also turn it off or on when I want and I can pay month to month on either. However, this is super rare here.
The real problem is that the US has allowed corporations to make laws and basically run the infrastructure. We need some serious lobbying overhaul or outright ban and lawmakers and judges to have a damn backbone to those with $. It’s ridiculous.
1.9TB is our high and that’s with 2 adults and 3 data hungry kids. 7TB!? Good lord!
Matter over Thread is similar to Z-Wave at the user level and supports a lot more device types. The below is from Silicon Labs
• Application layer: Matter is an IP-based application layer protocol that can uses lower layers from other technologies such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or Thread. Z-Wave is complete protocol covering physical layer to application layer Its a non-IP MESH protocol that uses sub-GHz ISM bands.
• Device types: Matter supports a broader range of device types than Z-Wave, including cameras, speakers, TVs, and more. Z-Wave focuses on low bandwidth devices that require low power and reliable communication, such as security systems, sensors, switches, and locks.
• Security: Matter provides end-to-end encryption, device certification, and cloud integration, which can enhance the security and privacy of smart home devices. Z-Wave also offers encryption and device authentication, but it does not have a built-in cloud service.
• Compatibility: Matter is compatible with popular voice assistants and other IP-based devices, which can make it easier to integrate with existing smart home ecosystems. Z-Wave requires a Z-Wave specific gateway or hub, but has a large number of compatible devices that work together.
Unless they’re strong arming their buyers it isn’t an issue. It’s business. Of course the EU is kind of showing they don’t understand how business or economies work lately.
Right. Good salespeople listen to customers, not try to sell them something they a) don’t need or b) won’t work as advertised.
They were on the path of self driving cars till Musk pulled the plug on the LiDAR and opted for cameras (cost less). He is directly responsible for why autopilot isn’t so auto.
Hate to break it to you Indonesia but you have zero clout in this relationship. I don’t think Google nor Apple care.
It’s really not. I have one on my work laptop and have never plugged an Ethernet jack into it. That stays permanently in my dock and gets transferred to the laptop via USB-C. All other non-desk work is done via … WiFi. Shock! Literally can’t tell the difference when making money.
