That’s never been a thing, even in Windows.
That’s never been a thing, even in Windows.
Maybe the ethics board uses AI, claiming to remove about 99% of harmful studies before they are approved.
“Sucks” isn’t even a swearword! Are we j*st going to st*rt censoring normal w*rds now?
And then wait for the next right-wing psychopath to buy up that one? You can’t jump off Twitter to another privately held platform and not expect the same to happen there sooner or later.
Not only wouldn’t he see a punishment, but he’d be elected a second time to do it again!
A 20 year old car can be perfectly functional.
Not if the car manufacturers get their wish. They’d love to force you to buy a new car every few years. Having tech installed that becomes obsolete fast would help make you upgrade.
They won’t, but they bought me a brand new shiny copy of Linux Mint.
That’s not hypocritical. That’s reaching your target audience.
That’s what you’re for.
I ditched Microsoft on my new build back in Feb. I installed Mint and it’s been a really smooth transition for me. I can still do everything I used to, although I know there are some use cases where it’s a problem for people. All the games I’ve tried run well.
But it does give me peace of mind that someone isn’t going to change my settings in a way that benefits them in a patch. I feel like I’m working with my OS to get things done instead of wrestling against what some corporate MBA wants.
All those sci-fi novels were meant as warnings not instruction manuals
You’re in a thread about MS fucking up and you’re annoyed that people are… [Checks notes]… complaining about MS fucking up? What exactly did you come here expecting?
You mean like the softwood lumber dispute that’s been going on for over 40 years where the US has put illegal tariffs on Canadian softwood exports? The one where they’ve been found in breach of the agreement multiple times and still haven’t fixed it?
Yeah, I’m sure they would never put tariffs on Mexican electric cars to protect their own auto industries.

Don’t worry, the US govt will put huge tariffs on them soon enough.

If a company intentionally bricks your device then they are malicious and under no circumstances should you buy another product of theirs.
“To prove that you are human, adopt a pet from the local animal shelter.”
I’ve got 22 cats already, but I need to check my email!
So the manufacturer isn’t spying on you, it just designed a product so someone else could hack you instead? That doesn’t make it sound any better.
The end result is the same: be careful what cables you plug into your device.
