I’m happy to see this, my wife and I were about to buy a smart TV. Now I’ll just get the dumb variant.

Didn’t know about sha3.
I can’t speak for enterprise, but it seems everyone is scrambling to figure out AI. I wouldn’t buy any hardware right now as it’s the first gen of hardware that is supporting AI. Typically gen 2 sees big improvements when new tech is introduced.
Just curious about what you do that needs 64gb ram?
A lot of people say that you can get X laptop with similar specs for $600 or whatever. But they usually have shit screens or are made from cheap plastic.
I still think Apple is a bit expensive, but a comparable windows laptop is not too much cheaper in most cases.
Let me know if I don’t know enough about what you are talking about, but I think your saying to use qemu to o run windows.
This is about running x86 code on arm processors, like what Apple does with Rosetta.
Yeah, this is what I came here to say. I bet a large % of their users are linux users. I ended up just getting one drive instead of proton, but would have considered proton drive if they had a linux client.
But you can but a Dell with Linux on it instead of windows.
I’m not sure how true this is, but I read somewhere that when Mac got above 5% market share, it suddenly got a lot more mainstream support.
I wonder if that means we’re are a year or two away from Linux as a mainstream option.
I’d love to have an arm based Linux laptop with software support for one of my critical work apps.
A while back people had a problem with metadata or something. I used to have my own server, so I wasn’t really worried about it.
But it’s been like 3 years since I’ve used it or looked into it.
Kinda curious what’s changed at this point.
I know what you mean, but I’m tired of window’s bullshit too.
I’d keep pc hardware if my work could happen on Linux, but it’s sadly not an option at the moment.
It’s because AI needs a not a ram. I think Apple did not expect or plan for ai which shows in the fact that only the latest pro phone can have Apple intelligence. It’s because that phone has enough ram.
Now they will boost ram across the board because Apple intelligence will not run well without it.
Depending on pricing, I may actually buy a MacBook in 2025.
I’ve wanted one since the m1, but I’ve held out until 16gb was the starting amount of ram.
Thanks! Typo!!
Anyone who has already purchased a Prloton, should be able to resell it. If they can’t, then I see a class action coming.
New sales could do this I guess, hopefully people will stop buying from crap companies
I recently read that a baby crib did the same thing they charge an activation fee after it’s sold. First we had subscriptions now we have reselling activation fees. It’s just another way to get a little bit more money.
Additionally, based on the way Apple implemented it, the dev would have to resign in Europe.
Maybe that has changed as they keep making changes. Either way they are being huge dicks and have turned me off from their platforms and services.
Not in the EU.
Depending on which virtual machine software you use, you might need to go onto the Linux even after you boot from it and run some programmer script to install drivers or something, but depends on which virtual machine software you use.
I doubt it will happen, but I’m hoping that windows 12 will make windows a more reasonable operating system.
Can’t wait until my work will be able to be done 100% on Linux.
Luckily they exist in smaller sizes still. I’m just getting a small tv for occasional use.
