Duckduckgo suffers a lot of the same problems as google
Like what?
I really dislike people who just point to another search engine like it’s the end all be all
There are other alternatives as well.

Oh look, more Kagi shilling.
“On-device” has to be a half-true at best. I’m having a hard time believing that the NPUs on these new ARM chips are powerful enough for it to be fully on-device. Even more-so with “approved” x86 chips. There has to be some data sharing between the client and server, similar to how Rabbit does their shit.
Comparing the era of Win 7 EoL with the current one isn’t apples to apples. For one, there actually was a slight increase in Linux marketshare. Second, enshittification has entirely taken over (made even worse by AI), and that wasn’t thing until a few years into Windows 10. Will it be The Year Of The Linux Desktop? Absolutely not, but there will be an uptick in Linux usage. The real delusion is saying there won’t be. Who knows how long it’ll last? But we’ve already seen more and more people get Linux curious thanks to Microsoft’s continued blunders and things like the Steam Deck.
Waymo is literally being investigated for self-driving incidents lol… They’ve also only been able to operate in a small area. I wouldn’t really call that chess.
Qwant works for me, so probably a coincidence.
Edit: nvm it only works intermittently
And this is why I refuse to listen to ads or pay for spotify.
Corporate open source isn’t “dead.” This is fear-mongering nonsense based on recency bias.
OnlyOffice
they don’t have office applications or video chat
Oh right, true. I forget Google has those.
The Proton suite of apps have 1:1 replacements for the entire Gsuite. Some things are locked behind a subscription (email is fully free), so if you’re not into that there’s NextCloud if you can/want to self-host. Tuta is also a decent Gmail replacement. As for Gapps, there isn’t really any good replacements; MicroG breaks a lot of things and sandboxed google play services is the only other alternative (which is only available on GrapheneOS afaik).
(banking app already don’t let you root or otherwise flash your device so I have given up hope in trying with them)
Idk why this myth keeps getting peddled. You can use any banking app on any custom ROM, rooted or unrooted (though I see no point in rooting these days). And even if an banking app blocked you from using their app…the mobile website exists if you really need mobile access to your bank.
lol it’s just what happens when you click More -> Web which is something they just introduced like a week or two ago. I’m all for hating on tech giants, but comments like this go beyond cynicism/jadedness and go right to conspiracyville.
