Not evangelizing in any way, but it is worth a try. If “back in college” was 10 years ago, I could hardly agree more that it was pain all around, but it is so much easier nowadays that even I without any advanced knowledge in Linux I could setup one of the harder distress (Arch) without any pain at all (thanks Archinstall).

It is easier to enforce access than to enforce ethical algorithm. Sadly, it is not perfect, but it is better than allowing it.

I also hate the new MacBooks are ARM based. Lots of x86 stuff that is battletested is suddenly broken. Can’t count the number of Docker containers broken on Mac while it works perfectly on your regular non-ARM based Linux.

If it was a carburetor (which EVs do not have), I’d be okay with a DRM. But boards? Is there an organized crime group that steals EV boards? Next time it will be funking wipers with DRM.
Software control should be kept for luxury aspects of the vehicle. Nothing critical.
Tesla would disagree, lol. But then again, for the price, the whole car is a luxury.

For the longest time I used gnome-screenshot via shortcuts that execute terminal commands. Nowadays, I use my dedicated print screen button (that probably just executes similar commands and uses gnome-screenshot on the background).
Been rocking Manjaro with Gnome for a long time, but then Plasma 6 came out, I switched over and couldn’t be happier.

That’s what aliases / functions in .bashrc (or whatever shell you use) are for. You don’t need to always write the full code.

Understandable, from a software engineer’s view, I get it.
IMO the biggest challenge is to fundamentally change how one thinks about given system. The goal is not to want to get it to behave like windows. But I understand it is hard for someone who used windows his whole life (I’ve been like that aswell). LibreOffice will never look like Office, downloading new software is not gonna be just running an .exe installer, and system settings will sometimes not be just “click here and it does what you want”.
Not trying to convince you (or anyone), but just my two cents.
